#WCW (Wed. Classy Woman): Afeni Shakur

January 10, 1947 – May 2, 2016


          This Blacktopian #WCW Award Trophy goes to the late Afeni Shakur who passed away earlier this week at the age of 69.  Most of you may only remember her as the mother of the late, great Tupac Shakur, however her contributions to the world goes far beyond raising one of the greatest rappers in history.  Afeni was a very prominent businesswoman, philanthropist, activist, speaker and once a member of the Black Panther party.

there are many models that are also members of Blacktopia

4 were the only ones that have appeared in both.

*  Tanisha J. Blanton was the FIRST model

          We are sure that this next Blacktopian #WCW (WomanCrushWed / WedClassyWoman) Award recipient has lots of hidden talents (aside from being an amazing cook), but unlike the other recipients today she's not in the spotlight, however Blacktopia would like to spotlight this small woman with such a big kind heart because although she may not be a singer, poet, designer, model, etc. etc., her role is just as important because without her.... the singers, models, poets, designers etc. wouldn't have an audience!  Mieesha Hutchinson is a dedicated follower and supporter of all the talented women featured in Blacktopia.

She's there to listen to the singers perform their music, watch and compliment the models on their photos and beauty, admire the designers work, read the poets and writers material and she gladly enjoys every moment of it!  

Mieesha may not be in the spotlight, but without dedicated viewers like her and may others, there wouldn't be anyone there to admire the talented individuals featured under the spotlight.  Well, Blacktopia would like to shine that light on one of the members that help keep Blacktopia alive just by admiring the work of the other Blacktopians, and we all would like to thank her for that!

          This #WCW (WomanCrushWed / WedClassyWoman) trophy goes to Ericka R. Taylor, the poetess known as Red Dawn!  Ericka R. Taylor is a very skilled and exceptionally talented writer and poet as well as a proud Blacktopian.  Ericka is also a very humble and modest person.  Although the talent shoots out of her every word, and she shines brighter than most stars in the sky above, she prefers to sit back, play the background and and supporting role to her fellow poets and writers and let them receive the spotlight and shine instead.  Recently, Some Guy Named Jay asked her to come out of her dark corner and support another shining, (but modest and humble) poet Tammy Thomas as one of the opening acts for her forthcoming Poetry Night Special "My Fat Ain't For Everybody" A Night of Poetry from the Soul by Tammy Thomas and of course Ericka (the poet better known as Red Dawn) couldn't say no to the opportunity.
