#WellnessWed: What's your THEME SONG?

"I feel that everyone should have a theme song. A song that describes you and makes you feel good about yourself. A song that every time it comes on, you know it was written for you." Theme Song is the 7th section of the Butterfly stage in my book Finding Your Flow: A Butterfly's Secret to Happiness.

Finding Your Flow: A Butterfly’s Secret to Happiness is a guided self-help book based on the life cycle of the butterfly. The sole purpose of the book is to help those of you
struggling with sadness, a lack of true enjoyment with life, and a lack of purpose. In many cultures the butterfly is a symbol of change, hope, and life. For other cultures, it is a symbol of resurrection. For me, the butterfly is synonymous with being happy, being free, and finding your true inner and outer beauty, and this is what I want you to accomplish in working through this book. As you progress through the stages of the book, my hope is that you emerge on the other side as the joyous person you’ve always wanted to be. I want to help you to find the butterfly within you and live a life of
balance, purpose, and true joy!

HAPPY VETERANS DAY: BLACKTOPIA WOULD LIKE TO HONOR IT'S VETERANS

Blacktopia would like to honor and salute all the veterans, especially those that are also apart of our Blacktopia Movement!

"Happy, Happy Veteran's Day, from one Veteran to all Veterans. I signed up for the military at the age of 17 and went to basic training at the age of 18. I did 12 years active duty and retired from the reserves. The military has paid for all of my schooling and has put me on the path to where I am today. The Army has taken me to many places and has allowed me to meet many different people and experience many different cultures. These experiences have molded me into the person and the psychologist that I am to day. I am proud to be a veteran." - Adrienne Charleson

#WellnessWed: #WellnessWed: WHY It's Important for BLACK WOMEN to invest in LIFE COACHING SERVICES

Life coaching has grown to be a supremely successful form of therapy, to the extent that it's assisted people with turning their entirely lives around.  A LIFE COACH is someone that looks to empower individuals by aiding them to create, meet and exceed goals in both their personal and professional lives.  Many people make general declarations of what they want to do with their lives, but a life coach can help you be more specific in what your "end game" and results should look like, and help you chart the path of your journey to bridge the gap between where you are currently and where you want to be.

Many black women seek the assistance of life coaches but often find it hard to work with professionals that don't share their personal struggles and experiences, and find it challenging to take the advice of others that provide talking therapy solutions when the person providing the counseling isn't empathetic to what they may go through day to day or even able to relate to them.

Seasoned psychologist Adrienne Charleston understands the urgent need in the black community for women of color to seek mental health and life coaching services from professionals that share the same life experiences as they do.  Black women need assistance, extra guidance and coaching from someone that not only looks like them, but can relate to the "black woman experience".

If you are a black woman interested in seeking assistance and life coaching from Adrienne Charleston, you may read all about her and the services she provides at her official website http://www.Adrienne-Charleston.com

#WellnessWed: Actress TARAJI P. HENSON opens up about Mental Health At Congressional Hearing

Award-winning actress Taraji P. Henson spoke candidly
about mental health issues affecting the youth in
the African American community at a congressional
hearing on Friday. “I’m here to appeal to you
because this is a national crisis,” she stated.
“I am here using my celebrity, using my voice, to
put a face to this, because I also suffer from
depression and anxiety,” she continued.
“If you’re a human living in today’s world,
I don’t know how you’re not suffering in any way.”

Watch the video clip below.

Back in April of this year, the Congressional Black Caucasus launched a
task force on mental health issues facing the black youth. They have since held
various hearings on the mental health stigma and growing number of suicides among
black youth. Henson who established The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation,
attended Friday's hearing to discuss the foundation's work in addressing the issue.

Henson’s foundation is hosting a conference on the stigma of mental illness in the African American community in Washington starting Friday and going through the weekend. The proceeds will help fund therapy for African Americans who otherwise can’t afford it.

Keep checking back for more updates on all the work The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation is doing in the community here on Blacktopia.org
