[UPCOMING EVENTS] PURPLE & PEARLS Domestic Violence Awareness Event in Charlotte, NC (Oct. 23rd) | Community Event

 

On Oct. 23rd from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, The Queen City Dollz will hold it's PURPLE & PEARLS Domestic Violence Event at The Plaza Road Academy.

The event is being held to spread awareness for Domestic Violence during this month of Oct (National Domestic Violence Awareness Month).  The main event is being hosted and organized by Doll Lady Laureate (Nickole Williams) and will feature special guest speakers from around the nation.  


Hosting the seminar panel, guest speakers and forum segments of the event is Brandon Brown AKA Mr. Excitement and Blacktopia's very own Some Guy Named Jay (Jonathan Coleman) will host the talent portion of the event.  


Olympic Medalist / Boxer Kendra Macon (Coach K) will be the special headlining guest speaker and the event will also feature various other speakers such as author and advocate for victims of domestic violence C. Dewayne Hinnant and more!

[ENTERTAINMENT NEWS] The THIRD most watched film on TUBI was directed by a BLACK WOMAN - IG @GeecheeOne

Blacktopia would like to congratulate and honor rising film director / screenwriter and producer Felicia Rivers of Geechee One Films for her recent screenplay Treasure Box being the THIRD most watched film on the TUBI app for the month of September!  

Back in April of this year, Geechee One Films released Trap Flix Party which garnered thousands of streams and views over the summer, and following the success of the previous release, Felicia Rivers' current film Treasure Box has become one of the most popular new releases on the app.

Today's Blacktopia ARTIST SPOTLIGHT is on Big Pap Da Mic Killa!  Read all about the Tennessee powerhouse below.

 

 


          Big Pap is one of the driving forces behind the modern era underground rap music scene in South Memphis, Tennessee.  Growing up with 3 siblings (all boys) in the heart of South Memphis has taught him a lot.  Big Pap also known as Tha MicKilla has been recording and releasing music professionally since 1999.  Although Big Pap has a signature music style all of his own, he was heavily influenced by legendary artists such as Scarface, Biggie, The Dayton Family, 36 Mafia, Jeezy, Gucci and many more!  Although Big Pap has been releasing music for years, his first independent mixtape titled Swagg Muzik was released in 2012 which gained the rising artist a lot of recognition by fans, critics, and tastemakers around the area.  Pap currently has 5 studio albums under his belt and has worked with many other greats in the Southeast music industry such as Zed Zilla, Blac, Youngsta, Drumma Boy, Big Scar, and a long list of others.

          Big Pap has spent a lot of time in and out of jail, but now the gifted recording artist has put the street life behind him, focusing on his business and family life being that he is married and the father of 6 children.  Big Pap has his own label Blu Money Muzik and has a partnership with Sony Orchard / Diamond Production.
