[HEALTH & WELLNESS] BLACKTOPIA addresses MENTAL HEALTH being IGNORED in the BLACK COMMUNITY

Earlier this week in the Blacktopia Facebook group, many of the members held a very meaningful and essential conversation during #TopicTuesday about why mental health isn't taken seriously in the black community, and when black celebrities are going through a mental breakdown, or crisis that takes a toll on their mental well-being, many of "us" act as if celebrities aren't "one of us" and that somehow their status and tax bracket warrants a lack of empathy from the average person.  Many Blacktopians shared their point of view, gave their opinion on why they believe things are the way they are when it comes to Mental Health and some also expressed solutions and ways to create more awareness of the importance of mental health treatment in the black community.  Here is what some of the members of Blacktopia had to say below.

[COMMUNITY] NTH3CRiB gave the YOUTH a POSITIVE OUTLET during the PANDEMIC

(NTH3CRiB founder and event host Lil' T3RRY along with the talented children of the event).

 A few weeks back the prestigious Georgia based media platform and affiliate of Blacktopia, NTH3CRiB held a community Red Carpet Meet and Greet event along with a Youth Talent Show in the city of Atlanta, GA to provide children and young teens a safe, fun environment to be themselves, play and showcase their talents during the COVID19 pandemic.  Hundreds of people in Atlanta and surrounding cities came out to celebrate and be a part of the milestone event catered to the youth and designed to give inner-city children something positive to participate in during these harsh times.

Today's BLACKTOPIA featured artist is R&B vocalist, singer / songwriter EBONY ARCHER (also known as The Ebonizer).

BIO

Ebony’s vocal skills were evident when she was 4 years old, Ebony lit up the church’s parishioners and excited everyone with her singing abilities. Four years later Ebony joined Walt Whitman and the Soul Children of Chicago where she stood out as an outstanding vocalist.

Shortly thereafter her singing career jettisoned to new heights where she became a sought after artist in the City of Chicago. Ebony has shared the stage with many well known artists, such as Yolanda Adams, R. Kelly, Celine Dion, Nick Carter, plus many others. In 2001, Ebony Archer was featured in R. Kelly’s video, “The World’s Greatest”. In 2012, Ebony was the runner up in the national anthem competition for “Black Girls Run” with over 40,000 votes. Her melodic voice often get compared to the likeness of Whitney Houston and Toni Braxton.

She is now an "Ebonized Boss". She is CEO of her BBB accredited entertainment company and music label called Music Evolved Records and her BBB accredited media company called "Ebonized Me". 

With her many musical experiences, coached vocal training, and development of audience focused stage presence, Ebony is now a gifted singer and because of her fierceness and fearlessness when on stage she is now recognized as the “The Ebonizer"

This week's Blacktopia featured artist spotlight is on Detroit stationed R&B singer and songwriter Lay'na Michelle!  Lay'na Michelle is an extremely powerful vocalist, and very seasoned songbird.  Lay'na Michelle has accomplished so much in the music industry and entertainment world in the past few years, winning many prestigious awards and hitting epic milestones in her musical journey. 

Back on Aug. 15th of 2018 Lay'na Michelle gained the fan's popular vote during the Thick Nation Award ceremony which was held in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Lay'na Michelle won the  Thick Nation "BBW Entertainer" and "BBW Album of The Year" Award.  The award ceremony was held in Las Vegas, NV.  Following her big win with Thick Nation, Lay'na Michelle's buzz continued to grow and spread like wildfire.  The rising star's new found popularity resulted in a slew of performances around the nation including the opportunity to perform for the Detroit Pistons Pre-Game held at Little Caesars Arena in November of 2018!

Wright Museum in Detroit Michigan.  The Lay'na Michelle Exhibit was on display from April 12th to April 30th.
