It's been 35 years since Eddie Murphy shouted, "Live from New York, it's Saturday night!" however on December 21, the veteran comedian will return to host "Saturday Night Live" once again, SNL announced Monday (Aug. 26th) via the official SNL Twitter.

The SNL alum last hosted an episode of the show in 1984. Murphy returned with other former cast members for the show's 40th anniversary episode in 2015.

A Better Chance A Better Community (ABC2) was founded in 2012 by Mr. Chester Williams to “empower young people by providing a life skills program that promotes positive values, healthy habits, and education through community development, culture, and awareness– resulting in real life power, World Changers as Game Changers”

The World Changers Program is a network of youth working collectively for positive community change.

In the seven years since its founding, A Better Chance, A Better Community(ABC2) has played a major role in the positive transformation of the Roanoke Valley from an area with too many unproductive, unsupervised kids with too much time to get into trouble to one providing young people with a valuable structured program which focuses on community development, youth engagement and fun.

ABC2’s signature program, The World Changers, is for young people ages 10 - 24 of various academic levels, demographics, and living in Halifax, Warren, Nash, Edgecombe, Wilson and Northampton Counties. Areas which suffers from health disparities and disproportionate systems of care & resources.

Some of the World Changers’ first projects were community garden plots at farmers market, state youth trainings, and launching a Summer Fitness Program for Teens. The young people drives the passion and mission of ABC2’s work.

DAVE CHAPPELLE will host Saturday Night Live on Nov. 12th with musical guest A TRIBE CALLED QUEST

The week of the election, comedian Dave Chappelle will make his much-anticipated debut on "Saturday Night Live" on Nov. 12 with musical guest A Tribe Called Quest, NBC which was announced Friday.

This is a big shift for the comedian, who left his incredibly popular Comedy Central show, "Chappelle's Show," in 2005.

Since departing Comedy Central, Chappelle has maintained a low profile and spent time in South Africa before purchasing and moving his family to a farm in rural Ohio.

While he has made the occasional appearance at comedy clubs around the nation, Chappelle only returned to perform standup comedy regularly in  2013. His appearance on "SNL" will be one of the highest profile events Chappelle has done since the end of his show.

The influential hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest will be the musical guest and celebrate the Nov. 11 release of their first studio album in 18 years, We Got It From Here … Thank You 4 Your Service.

The members of the group intend it to be their last, as member Phife Dawg passed away earlier this year from complications resulting from diabetes. He was 45.

Drake will return to host SNL for the 2nd time on May 14, 2016.  Drake will play double duty as host and musical guest, just like his first hosting stint.

Remembering Danitra Vance (R.I.P.) Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Oct. is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in the land of Blacktopia, it's ALWAYS Black History Month, so for this day we would like educate our readers on a powerful black woman in Entertainment and Comedy that passed away from a battle with Breast Cancer, Comedienne and SNL Alum Danitra Vance.  


Danitra Vance was the 2nd black woman to be hired into the cast of the longest running sketch comedy series NBC's Saturday Night Live (for the 1985-1986 season), along with veteran comedian and then soon to be In Living Color star Damon Wayans.


Although Danitra Vance proved to be a strong comedic actress, she only lasted on the show for one full season after being let go by network executives.  During her short stint as a cast member she was shoehorned in skits and limited to usually playing stereotypical black roles which she eventually stopped fighting against and simply complied with the writers (who were predominantly white males at the time) in order to just get a fair shot at a decent amount of onscreen airtime.   During her term on SNL she also performed impressions of Whoopi Goldberg, Lola Folana, Leslie Uggams, and Cicily Tyson.


After SNL she played a few roles in movies such as Little Man Tate, War of the Roses, Hanging With The Homeboys and appeared in an episode of Miami Vice before passing away in 1994 losing her battle with Breast Cancer.

Taraji P. Henson will host Saturday Night Live (April 11th)

Actress Taraji P. Henson will host the April 11th episode of Saturday Night Live this weekend with musical guest Momford & Sons!  2015 has been a great year for the actress after landing the major role as Queen Cookie on the FOX hit show Empire! 


The 2014-2015, 40th season was also a great year for black comedians on the show.  For the first time in SNL's 40 year history the show has 5 African American cast members as regulars in the main cast!  Veteran actor and performer Kenan Thompson (also known for his role on the Nickelodeon 90s kid show Kenan & Kel and the movie Fat Albert) has been on the show for over 10 + years, impressionist Jay Pharaoh who performs President Barack Obama on SNL, and newcomers improvisational actress Sasheer Zamata, perviously known for her work as a member of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater ran by former SNL cast member Amy Poehler (of Parks & Rec. fame), long time stand up comedienne Leslie Jones, who has performed stand up on BET's Comicview, Def Comedy Jame, Premium Blend and has opened up for veteran stand ups such as Jamie Foxx and Katt Williams, and comedy and joke writer Michael Che best known for working with David Letterman and his work on the Daily Show with Jon Stewert.


SNL airs 11:30 EST on Saturday Nights on NBC!
