Blacktopian Shantelle "Elle" McLin releases a book of poetry titled Beyond Nursery Rhymes: Real Life Tales.  Blacktopia is proud to feature her new book release!

Synopsis
Between the covers of this book, you will find a pilgrimage. For the author, ‘Elle’ McLin, in describing her past as a painful one, would be trite and dismissive. It is through enormous turmoil that she found herself; slowly healing, then breaking free of victimhood. She later awakens to new found hope. A victim of sexual abuse; the reality of her writing conveys to the reader, that the true assault was the violation of her soul. The aftermath was a skewed self-perception, which created a pattern of self-deprecation and bitter angst. This is a glimpse into the heart of a woman who became terrified of love, yet desired to be loved; a dichotomy. So skillfully written, Elle has masterfully conveyed her deepest, blood-raw emotions in this exquisite collection of prose. It will be an emotional journey you take with her, feeling each inference, innuendo, and breath. It is a tale of inner strength, fortification and a woman reinvented. The author has discovered self-love; the key was never outside of herself. A victory for this very brave, strong woman. Walk this pilgrimage with ‘Elle'. You will find seeds enough to plant within yourself! Powerful and evocative - not to be missed. Brenda-Lee Ranta – Author of Myriad of Perceptions & Allegories

#TalentTuesday "Less Shade" poem by Darrell Herbert the Artivist

"Less Shade"

Sometimes we can't always accept reality for what it is

So we create illusions like fantasies or dreams that help us cope with our disbelief

However at some point, we have to return to the real world in order to truly identify

The difference between the actual truth and what we believe to be the truth

Ignorance can be blissful if the truth is painful

But knowledge is the true key to happiness in this world

- Darrell Herbert

Introducing new artist on the rise YBless

Check out rising new hip hop recording artist YBless!
YBless was born into struggle yet decided not to the let struggle define him, but rather he chose to define the struggle. “Life is a lesson if you just listen and learn from it” states Bless. Always having a true love for music Bless began to write at the early age of ten and quickly transitioned into producing as well. Understanding the benefits of working smarter not harder Bless decided to learn from the mistakes and triumphs of others, carefully watching what the industry leaders were doing and customizing those elements to fit his mold. Bless feels his style stands on its own, that there is no one quite like him which makes him confident that his time to shine is now. With a goal to bring back the love and respect to the game, Bless intends to showcase his personal struggles for others to relate to thus creating a connection to build from. “My Struggles are not your struggles, my pain is not your pain, but the elements that create them share a common bond”. With an inner drive, passion and pure determination Bless knows that he has much to offer the industry and his fans, now he just needs his chance to prove it.
